Interruptions as opportunities SOLC ’22 (2/31)

I love a good quote. I even subscribe to a daily email list that sends fantastic quotes. They are motivational, contemplative, and sometimes quirky and funny. One of my favorite quotes is by the great writer, theologian and dreamer, C.S. Lewis. Lewis was quoted as saying, “The truth is, of course, that what ones regards as interruptions are precisely one’s life.”

When I think about that quote, my mind is instantly invaded by the interruptions that have become so prevalent in my life over the past year. Interruptions have truly become one of the biggest parts of my life. I am learning how to live a life interrupted, a life that is still thankful despite frustrations. A life that still seeks to find joy and love in difficult and new places.

Today I am seeking joy as I explore a new town, place my kids on new sports’ teams and drive them around after school, still using GPS because I am still slightly lost. I realize now that interruptions are not bad, they are just opportunities. Opportunities for growth, opportunities to show those around me how I will react when life becomes full of interruptions.

So, what Interruptions abound in your life today? Will you choose the interruptions to be a catalyst for growth? Remember all interruptions are not bad. Although today’s interruptions may be hard, you will get through to the other side and have a story to tell from it all. What will that story be?
